“Say Yes to the Dress!” So, not the dress from the acclaimed wedding dress show on TLC, but more of the LWD. This summer forget the black dress, get out the trumpets and drum roll, and be prepared for the grand entrance of the ultra cool LWD. Celebs can’t get enough of this seasons light, breezy, and fresh color, and I’m pretty love struck as well. Unfortunately, working with a white canvas can be very tricky to pull off, unless you have a top-notch stylist by your side, and a body like Barbie. Fashionistas, fear no more, I was able to crack the LITTLE WHITE DRESS CODE, and uncover three fail-safe ways to wear this white-hot trend, but also set a record! Read on to uncover how break the little white dress code…
STYLE SECRET #1 KNOW THE PRODUCT
First, and foremost, when wearing a LWD it’s best you know your product, meaning yourself. That means taking in account factors such as your skin tone, hair color, and body type. As a rule of thumb, the darker your skin tone, the darker shade of white you should choose, such as crème colors will flatter you the best, whereas lighter skin tones will look best in bright white shades.
STYLE TIP: HIGHLIGHT: Unlike the lbd that covers flaws, the color white can possibly accentuate problem areas. That’s why it’s key to shop for styles that highlight your best body features. For those who are more hour glass-smaller on top, and slightly larger on bottom, such as myself, go for styles that accentuate your upper body like fit and flare, skater, scuba, halter, and strapless. On the other spectrum, for those who are more apple shaped-bigger on top, smaller on the bottom, go for styles like a shift dress, V-neck dress, hi-low, wrap dress, or a maxi dress. Finally, for those who fall into the last category which is narrow all over, go for styles that hug your body such as body con or bandage because it creates the illusion of curves.

STYLE SECRET #2 PAINT ON COLOR
The great thing about wearing a white dress is that you are dealing with an empty canvas. Think of yourself as a painter that has free range to experiment with color. If you want to make more of a statement, color is the easiest way to do that! Match up your little white dress with bright or bold colors through the accessories.
STYLE TIP: COLOR THEME: The key to using color within styling the little white dress is picking a theme. I did exactly this by sticking with the color mint for both shoes and accessories. It’s important that you don’t throw more than two colors in the mix. Sticking to one color and using it sparingly throughout will really stand out with your white dress, so remember, less is more.
STYLE SECRET #3 ADD A TREND
White dresses are super versatile and they’re really easy to incorporate fashion trends. There are lots of looks that you can create within LWD. The easiest way to create any look is by adding a trend. Whether you decide to go more boho chic with tribal accessories, or more edgy cool with metallics it’s all about the details.
STYLE TIP: BALANCE: Even though you’re applying a trend, or painting color, it’s important to create balance when applying these style techniques. Revert back to the silhouette of the dress, and analyze where you can use accessories to highlight, while creating balance. I did exactly that by placing a necklace as a focal point for my upper body, while balancing the lower portion of the dress with a matching color statement shoe. I was able to apply the trend technique by choosing tribal jewelry in a statement necklace, and a tribal inspired gold cuff. In addition, I was able to take this technique even further, by incorporating the trend of pastels as my central color theme.
