#NO FILTER NECESSARY: 4 FRESH WAYS TO WEAR BLACK AND WHITE

During my teenage years with fashion I always struggled with wearing black and white without feeling like I was dressed up as a referee or French maid. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but ironically growing up I always thought things looked better in black and white: those yummy black and white frosted cookies they sell at delis, photographs, movies, furniture, and of course black and white colored puppies. Meanwhile black and white has become a staple in my wardrobe over the past few years, and it’s one of my favorite go-to color combinations for this Spring. Here are 4 fresh looks that require no filter necessary to help you wear this neutral color combo into every dress code!

LOOK #1 THE CRISP WHITE BLOUSE
A white blouse paired with a black trouser or skirt need not to be boring. Look for a blouse that has structured sleeves or choose one that has a unique collar or neckline.
DAY: Wear with a black pencil skirt or high waisted trousers.
NIGHT: Wear it with asymmetrical black mini skirt and pair a black leather jacket to add some edge.
STYLE TIP: Throw in some killer style with a great shoe. Think beyond basic, and choose more of any eye-catching design like a unique black strappy stiletto, heel, or bootie. Here are links to get this look:

LOOK #2 STRIPES & SOLIDS
Pairing stripes and solids together have never looked so fun. The possibilities are endless. Build the outfit around the stripe item that you choose. Stripes are often flattering for most figures so pick a style that accentuates your best feature.
DAY: Wear a fitted and flare stripe dress. Pair with a belt and add a solid color black or white blazer depending on the style dress you choose.
NIGHT: Wear stripped skinny pants with a solid color top, and pair with booties or heels. You can also wear a bodycon stripped dress and pair it with a moto style leather jacket and heels.
STYLE TIP: With stripes add a pop of color in the accessories or the shoe, which adds dimension, yet bringing attention to your look. Here are links to get this look:

LOOK #3 PATTERN PLAY
Graphic patterns are right on trend for this spring, and can make you look so fashion forward even if your not. You can play with florals, geometrics, spots, swirls, pop art, and houndstooth. The possibilities are endless of what you can play with. Choose a print that is proportional in scale to the garment your planning on sporting, so the print doesn’t overpower you. For dresses I recommend choosing larger prints, whereas tops choose prints that are smaller in scale so this look is easy to wear.
DAY: Wearing a graphic pencil skirt, and pairing it with a solid color top, and heels. Another option would be a skater polka dot dress paired with a blazer or cardigan and of course heels.
NIGHT: Mini houndstooth skirt paired with a white sleeveless top and black leather jacket. Another style option is skinny pattern leggings with heels and a black tunic.
STYLE TIP: Keep the shoe in solid color, and avoid multi color hues. With most patterns keep the shoe color in black or white to create an overall balance. However, some patterns may call for a bolder color shoe like red, blue, pink, or even yellow. Here are links to get this look:

LOOK #4 MAD FOR MOD
This 60’s look is making a huge comeback this season, especially in the colors black and white. Think graphic black and white patterns, checkerboard prints, and color blocking. Wearing this style in a dress is easiest way to pull off this look. Choose a dress in a clean silhouette so nothing distracts from the pattern.
DAY: Wearing a skater color block dress and pair it with a blazer or cardigan. NIGHT: Go for a bodycon color block dress, as I did and pair it with solid color heels. To add more edge throw on a leather jacket.
STYLE TIP: While the dress speaks for itself, keep an eye out for details. Complete this look by making one of the accessories a statement item, or as I often refer to as the “wow factor.” I did exactly that by adding a gold statement necklace to my look. I recommend wearing metallic gold jewelry when it comes to the color block look because it provides for a great contrast. Here are links to get my look:
