Like a good color lipstick, the right shade of pink can bring glow to your face and even transform your look. I don’t know about you, but when I looked at my current wardrobe I noticed that the color pink was practically non existent. Maybe it was my pre teen days playing with only Barbie and a pink colored My Little Pony and wearing nothing except the color pink too. Now that I’m actually a grown up and a fashion blogger I think that wearing this chic color doesn't categorize me as a fanatical girly girl or even “Elle Woods” want be. Instead, it can provide a wardrobe with a feminine touch or even an electrifying look that every girl should embrace. Here are three stylish pink looks from TV shows that I put together so that you can test drive now!
LOOK 1 CLASSIC : BETTY DRAPPER FROM MADMEN
STYLE PROFILE: Classic, elegant, simple, conservative, tailored pencil skirts, divine cocktail dresses, pleated skirts, full skirts, cardigans, shift dresses, button down shirts, neutral color heels, simple accessories, lighter hues of pink
HOW TO GET HER LOOK: To get her elegant and classic look stick to lighter color hues of pinks such as pastels. I would focus on styling this look around the skirt. TIP 1: PAIRING WISELY: When pairing a pink colored skirt with this look stick to neutral color tops, where as if you pick a pink patterned skirt choose a pink colored top. Keep the shoes in a neutral color and consistent with this classic look. Likewise keep jewelry to the bare basics such as pearls or studs. TIP 2: MATCHY MATCHY: Color on color was big during this time, and designers and celebrities are currently embracing monochromatic looks creating interesting outfits with one color or varied version of the single shade. Just make sure when attempting this look that the color is slightly different or almost the same as the skirt. You be surprised at how this look can be dramatically noteworthy! LOOK 2 ECLECTIC: HANNAH FROM PRETTY LITTLE LIARS
STYLE PROFILE: Young Hollywood, runway, feminine, glamour, trendy edgy, girly, flirty, color blocking, tank tops, tube tops, mini skirts, skinny pants, body con dresses, bandage dresses, leggings, eye catching jewelry, blazers, leather jackets, heels, booties, Bolder Hues of Pink
HOW TO GET HER LOOK: To get her look I would focus on the concept of color blocking as I did especially when wearing separate garments. TIP 1: BALANCE: It’s important especially when color blocking to create balance in some dimension. I did exactly that with matching the fabric of the skirt type to that of the top. Adding a black/gold necklace to create an overall pattern by complimenting the black heels, but also counterbalancing the contrast of the colors, white and fuschia. TIP 2: ADD BIT OF EDGE: By choosing a necklace in the contrasting color of kohl black with gold chains created an edgy look to my outfit. Remember ladies, to incorporate an edge when rocking bolder hues of pink with out screaming over the top focus on choosing contrasting colors in the jewelry, rather than large chunky shapes. Keep the jewelry form simple but the color contrasting. HOW TO GET HER LOOK: Focus on the look from head to toe. Think Maxi dresses or jumpsuits when pulling off this look. TIP 1: ZERO IN ON THE SHADE: It’s important to focus in on the shade of pink that you choose. For instance, if your focus is on a light pink maxi dress, than it’s important to break the outfit down with accessories in brighter colors within the shade or opposite colors of the color spectrum to create contrast. Tip 2: DIMENSION: This is key in any head to toe look especially when sporting pink. The first way you can do this is from external sources, such as adding a belt, wearing a statement necklace, or wearing a unique shoe. The second way you can do this is before purchasing a dress or jumpsuit, make sure it has a unique design too.
