4 REASONS TO ROCK A HIGH-LOW DRESS NOW!

Move over Ms. Maxi Dress, and Bye Bye Miss Mini skirt, and make room to say hello to Ms. High-low dress. The meet-up between a maxi and a mini is the offspring of the hi-low dress. Often referred to as the Mullet Dress, because just the like the haircut, the dress runs long in the back and shorter in the front. But a Mullet Dress? Really?! Before the thought of wearing a mullet inspired design turns you off,  new stars are constantly  emerging on the red carpet rocking this style.  If your unsure about why you should sport this style, I racked my brain and have given you four great reasons that will make you want to rock one now!

TRANSITION TO FALL
Fall is right around the corner, so it’s important that any piece of clothing that you buy for summer now you can work it into fall. High-low dresses are extremely versatile making it a great piece to take you from day to night, as well as into the fall season. When shopping for a hi-low dress focus on fall prints and colors that are transitional. I did just that by buying a tribal print dress with a cooler color palette. To transition this dress into the fall season all I would have to do is swap out the strappy sandal heels for fall shoes like booties and layer with a jean jacket or a cropped leather style jacket.

BECOME CREATIVE
Wearing a high-low dress helps you think out of the box in terms of accessorizing your look.  Depending on the color choice, silhouette, or print you choose will dictate how you style it.  Incorporating a statement necklace, skinny belt, cute jacket, or unique shoe will entirely change the dynamics of your chosen piece.  I did exactly that by adding a silver belt to the dress I wore in order to break up the pattern and also adding a touch of glamour by wearing silver studded strappy heels.

LOOK LEAN
Ever dreamed of looking taller and leaner? The high-low dress can create the illusion of a taller and leaner frame. Make sure you don’t over accessorize with this dress, because too many accessories can draw attention away from the beautiful cut. Going for darker colors like navy, black, charcoal grey, and brown always create the illusion of looking leaner.

SHOW OFF A STATEMENT SHOE
The focus of the high-low dress is going to be on the calves and feet, so if you have a pair of shoes in mind that you want flaunt, this dress is the one to do it! Rather than picking out the dress first, you can do the reverse by starting with the shoes you have in mind. Strappy sandals always look terrific, but try to stay away from chunky platforms or heavy wedges that will compete with the graceful feeling of the flowy dress.
