MINUTE-MADE FASHION THAT IS READY TO GO!

We've all had those moments where we stand in our rooms after trying every single thing on we own and claim to "Not Have Anything to Wear!” Most of us including myself have gone through this experience at one point of another. By the time you have tried on 6 different outfits and finally the seventh look seals the deal, but you still feel unsure like it’s missing that extra oomph! Your already super late which is not the best start to wherever your headed.  The lesson learned is that one can have endless amounts of clothes, but knowing how to create quick and fashionable combinations can be time consuming, and overwhelming. What’s a fashionista to do with so many things to think about in such little time? Like the concept of ready to serve fast food, I have come up with a minute-made fashion formula that has not only changed my life but most importantly will impact yours, and did I fail to mention instagram worthy too!

1. THE CENTER PIECE
A centerpiece is a unique or eye-catching piece that your outfit will be based around.  It can be anything that you’re dead set on wearing- pants, dresses, skirts, necklaces, shorts, shoes, and the list goes on. Please keep in mind your centerpiece may vary depending on profession and style preferences. The only criterion is that it must be something you really like and shows off a bit of whom you are!

MY CENTER PIECE
My chosen centerpiece was the high waisted blue shorts with gold zippers. As you know if you have been following my blog, I’m in love with cobalt blue as well as a my slight obsession for retro inspired trends, so it was a no brainer that I would grab these shorts to create my instant outfit!

2. THE ACCENT PIECES
So the hardest part is finished and now onto the fun part, creating your look. Once you have chosen the centerpiece you must examine your wardrobe. Are there any particular pieces that complement the central piece?  In order to find the best accent pieces you must take in account the details of the centerpiece, such as the design, type of garment or accessory, whether it’s a solid or print, color, and texture.  These factors are important in choosing accent pieces that will complement the centerpiece. Also, some things to keep in mind when choosing accent pieces are:

  • TRY NOT TO USE MORE THAN THREE COLORS TO DOMINATE YOUR OUTFIT

  • STRIVE FOR BALANCE: BOLD COLORS OR PRINTS SHOULD BE PAIRED WITH NEUTRAL COLOR PIECES

  • PLAY WITH REPEATING COLORS AND MATERIALS TO PROVIDE UNITY

MY ACCENT PIECES
I’m already in prep mode for this fall’s biggest trend, the swinging 60’s, and what better way to do this then choose a black and white polka dot sleeveless top paired with my center piece- high waisted cobalt blue shorts. To dress up this look further, I added a black leather jacket and pointy heel. Both items infused an edgy touch to my retro inspired look. On the other hand, without the jacket my outfit has a more casual feel.  Likewise this look worn with a wedge as shown in the picture instead of a heel creates a more casual look.

3. THE POP
Do you know what any hit song that has reached a chart topper and a great outfit have in common? They both have a hook, which in fashion is something that is memorable and sets one outfit apart from the rest! This is often completed by last factor, THE POP. Pop pieces usually are but not limited to jewelry, scarves, belts, handbags, and shoes. Think of Pop pieces as those SMALL DETAILS that make a big impact. The thing to keep in mind when buying pop pieces is to look at the colors in your accents and centerpiece.  The easiest way is to pick a color that would either complement or contrast these pieces.  If you prefer to wear your pop pieces under the radar, try going for pieces in metallic hues, or neutral color hues. Depending on the look your trying to achieve having a few interesting pop pieces in metallics or neutral tones can go a long way.

MY POP PIECE
My designated pop piece was my heels.  My black heels consisted of a gold studded embellishment type pattern which tied into the color black for both my leather jacket and black polka dotted top, while the gold studs played up the retro inspired look I was aiming for.
