FASHION 101: 4 SEE-THROUGH TIPS TO BECOME A SHEER GENIUS!

This year I have been meticulously studying and mastering the language of fashion, so I can provide all of you with the best style tips and trends. However, in my younger years studying and getting straight A’s didn’t come quite easy. I always looked for the short cuts to becoming that so called whiz kid! However, I noticed those short cuts weren’t as transparent as I hoped for. Today, I realize that my expertise on this blog is your short cut to becoming a fashion guru! Luckily, I can provide you this season with 4 –see through tips to help you become a sheer genius in no time! Read on to passing this season’s fashion test of sheer magic with flying colors!

TIP #1 SHEER SELECTIVELY
To avoid being a hot mesh in this trend it’s best to sheer selectively. Focus in on those assets you want to highlight with the sheer material.  Then gravitate towards pieces that highlight specifically what you want to show off. These pieces consist of see-through details instead of a baring it all, see-through look. In my case I wanted to show part of my neckline and arms, so I opted for a cobalt blue mesh dress, which had the sheer all around my arms and décolletage.

TIP #2 STICK TO BASIC SILHOUTTES
Since the sheer fabric is already eye-catching it’s best to not overcomplicate so go for classic styles like A-line skirts, ball gown skirts, body-con dresses, and fit and flare. Once I decided I wanted to search for a piece that highlighted my upper area I decided to focus in on the bodycon style.

TIP #3 DOUBLE OR TRIPLE SHOT OF STYLE
I like to think of this style tip as a for sure double or triple shot of style! This is specifically when you take one trend and buy it as a piece that has more than one trend within it, or you can incorporate other elements that are trending to your look.  For example, the dress I wore had two trends in addition to the sheer trend.  This was the color block style which exudes the mod theme from the swinging 60’s and it also had the smashing cobalt blue color which is huge for fall 2014!

TIP #4 PAINT ON THE FINISHES
Like a piece of clay you molded, once it’s cooked in the oven your good to go with painting the finishes! Similarly, once you picked your designated sheer piece and have your look ready to go, it’s important that you paint the final touches on which are but not limited too the accessories like the shoes, jewelry, handbag, and tights.  I did exactly that by adding tights that were black fishnet to balance the texture of the black mesh on top. To achieve an edgier and contemporary look I wore a stiletto bootie that had gold buckle detail and cutouts at the side along with my last brush stroke, which was splash of green in the chandelier earrings to contrast the cobalt blue.
