TUESDAY’S TREND: 4 SNEAKER APPROVED OUTFIT IDEAS TO KICK UP YOUR STYLE!

If you couldn’t tell from my fall trends on the blog, I have major “Fall Fever.”  I’m so ready for the weather to cool down, so I can embrace all fall fashion trends. One trend that has hit home with me is the good old sneaker! Reminiscent of my days of wearing pink and white My Pony High-Tops as 4 year old to my middle school days of sporting  cool grungy styled Vans, and to my serious running days in my late 20’s  of wearing new balance trainers in panache!  It was no surprise that when I found out sneakers were having their hey day this fall I was super excited! Since my other job of being a real estate agent requires that I run around all day  like the cartoon character Speedy Gonzales from appointment to appointment I’m going a little bit crazy with this trend, or in other words I’m getting “Sneaker Fever!”  Slowly I’m replacing the everyday pump, wedge, or flat with the 2014 stylish kicks!  For those of you that love the sporty glam look,  think fashion meets candy, designers have went beyond the call of duty with this staple, a variety of flavors, colors, and designs to satisfy any sweet spot!  Even if you don’t have a sweet tooth for the sporty type, I swear the sneaker can become part of your go-to shoe selection. Here are 4 sneaker approved outfit ideas to kick up your style!

"GO TO" BLACK SNEAKER

Like a loyal “lbd” every fashionista needs a “lbs” to turn to when in doubt! Olivia Munn wears a lovely red accented black kicks with a basic white top and pair of skinny jeans and a great black and white check jacket to complete her look.

STYLE TIP: LOOK FOR LUXE MATERIALS
When swapping out your black dressy shoes for an everyday black sneaker look for materials like suede and leather, embellished with metallic refinements,  and sported on double soles or wedges. This way the sneaker appears dressier and is a perfect substitution for a swap out.

DRESS IT UP

Sometimes going for the vanilla ice cream rather than the rocky road can be a safe bet when it comes to combining it with other deserts. Likewise, when you’re wearing sneakers with a dress, it’s best to stick with simple styles that are not over complicated. Look for solid colored sneakers without too much embellishment, and that have clean lines.

STYLE TIP: PAIR WITH NEUTRAL COLOR ENSEMBLES
For starters, the best way to wear sneakers with a dress is start by choosing neutral colors as the primary overall color  as seen in the pictures. A great style note to take down is  replacing   gold or silver heels for a metallic finish wedge to create the same effect.

POP OF COLOR

Perhaps my favorite style technique is incorporating a pop of color to any look.  I can’t stress how a splash of color can transform the most Plain Jane look to one that sizzles! The key is using the right color and knowing how to build your look around the  color piece that you choose.

STYLE TIP: START BACKWARDS WHEN CREATING YOUR LOOK
It’s so important when wearing bold colored kicks, to build your look around the shoe.  Most of the time colored sneakers are a statement piece, so it’s important to pick pieces that neutralize the shoe. Go back to my article on “Minute Made Fashion” and brush up on the formula.  Therefore, you would start with the shoe as your pop piece, and work backwards to picking out the accent pieces and centerpiece. In all the pictures above, their shoes are the pop color and are paired with pieces that neutralize the color. I'm going to go through a quick example to make it easier for you to wear pop colored shoes.

EXAMPLE: MIRANDA KERR

  POP PIECE: PINK SNEAKERS
 CENTERPIECE: LEATHER PANTS
ACCENT PIECES: CHAMBRAY AND BAG
STYLE NOTE: All of her pieces except the pop piece was in neutral colors

DENIM DAYS

Probably the easiest and most style proof way to sport sneakers is with denim. Now that fall is here “Denim Days” are here to stay! For some of you that are denim obsessed this is the perfect excuse to dress in a double dose of style and comfort!

STYLE TIP: STICK TO MORE FEMININE AND FORMAL PIECES
To avoid looking like you just got out of bed and  threw on the first pair of jeans and top in sight make sure there is at least an element that is feminine or more formal than the basic shirt and jean look. It can be something as simple as a scarf, a cropped top with jewelry, or even wearing a floral patterned blazer (above picture).
