GUY STYLE GUIDE: GO FOOTLOOSE WITH FASHION’S BEST-KEPT TREASURE

So forget the bottom drawer socks, thick athletic socks, and of course your stale cotton black socks! Get ready to go for a scavenger hunt in the world of socks! Whatever route you choose like Indiana Jones said from the movie The Last Crusade, “We do not follow maps to buried treasures and X never ever marks the spot!” Just what if X starts the spot? In a world dominated by blue jeans and dark suits,  x does start the spot with socks because they show an individual's personality and style almost more than any other men's accessory.Rather than a  long drawn out marathon to wrap your head around going footloose with fashion’s best kept treasure, paradise is only a few footsteps away ! So if you're ready to start a a new wave of footshakes over handshakes here are few styles to consider:

CLASSIC – THE NEUTRAL SOCK

In the game of fashion always trust classic styles. This is the case for the classic dress sock, which is sophisticated, subtle and suave. Although some may see a small hint of argyle or pin dots this is typical against a traditional dark blue or black dress sock. This sock is reserved for formal occasions or a strict corporate environment. . When wearing neutrals formally it’s important that you match them to the color of your trousers,  not shoes, or shirts.  If possible try to avoid matching the shade of the pants exactly.

BOLD - THE COLOR BLOCK SOCK

This style is bold in taste. It includes bold, bright colors blocked together.  If patterns are a bit much for you, the next best thing is going with my favorite, the good old “pop of color.” This means working with pastels, bights or generally anything that doesn’t classify as neutral. Focus on picking accent colors in your look such as the tie, and use your socks to compliment or contrast that. The same thing applies with the pocket square.  Finally, don’t get too matchy.

TRENDY – THE PATTERNED SOCK

If swag is your middle name, then this is the style for you.  This men’s sock adds not only  character but also it includes bold patterns set against bold color. I don’t know about you, but I love someone who’s got a bit of personality, and trust me you’ll have a ton with this sock! Don’t be afraid to stand apart from the crowd, because the “new normal” is different. Today, being different is a way to set you apart from the crowd and more importantly open up doors for endless possibilities.  Keep in mind when sporty the pattern socks do not match the pattern of your socks with a pattern in your ensemble. It’s best to wear pattern socks when minimal patterns are used in your whole outfit.  Most importantly have some fun, don’t take yourself and style too seriously!
